DMG MORI establishes in-house foundry in Poland, strengthening European manufacturing resilience
DMG MORI is building an in-house foundry in Pleszew, Poland. DMG MORI CASTECH Poland will supply the company’s European production sites with high-precision castings for its machine tools, thus broadening the company’s sourcing base and increasing supply chain flexibility. Construction is planned to begin in 2026, production is scheduled to start in 2030. The foundry strengthens DMG MORI’s strategic independence in Europe and creates a more resilient value chain for its customers. CASTECH Poland therefore reinforces DMG MORI’s position as a global leader in machine tools.
With annual capacity of up to 20,000 metric tons of castings at full expansion and a total floor area of more than 27,000 m², CASTECH Poland will become an important supplier for DMG MORI’s European plants in the future, complementing the company’s existing supplier network. This will add capacity and flexibility to DMG MORI’s European supply chain. The facility is located just 2.5 km from the existing DMG MORI production site in Pleszew, enabling direct operational synergies from day one.
By bringing casting production in-house, DMG MORI gains direct oversight of every quality-critical stage: from raw material composition and casting tolerances to the final machined component. This vertical integration also connects DMG MORI’s R&D capabilities and manufacturing of pre-products, enabling faster iteration, shorter development cycles, and more agile technology rollout. As a result, DMG MORI can respond to customer demand more quickly and precisely.
DMG MORI CASTECH Poland advances the company’s Machining Transformation (MX) and Green Transformation (GX) strategy, driving sustainable and resource-efficient manufacturing across its entire value chain. The European foundry reduces emissions by cutting intercontinental transport and external procurement. It builds on the proven blueprint of CASTECH Japan, DMG MORI’s established in-house foundry. For years, CASTECH Japan has supplied high-quality castings for DMG MORI machine tools while helping to reduce their CO2 footprint. Knowledge and experience gained from CASTECH Japan are now being applied to CASTECH Poland.
Ultimately, the foundry is being developed with resource efficiency at its core. It incorporates raw material reclamation and recovery processes, all underpinned by state-of-the-art production technology.
With CASTECH Poland, DMG MORI expands its European footprint across the industrial value chain by putting “local for local” into action. This shortens supply chains, reduces transport dependency, and makes manufacturing in Europe more resilient against global disruptions. At the same time, it affirms DMG MORI’s broader commitment to Europe as a strategic industrial hub.
