DMG MORI European Headquarters and Technology Center celebrates topping-out ceremony in Munich

With the topping-out ceremony, the construction of DMG MORI’s new European headquarters in Munich has reached an important milestone. In Munich-Moosach, modern working environments and a technology center for the global machine tool manufacturer are being created on approximately 10,000 square meters. Covering around 1,500 square meters, the technology center is the centerpiece of the new building, featuring 20 state-of-the-art machine tools, 10 automation solutions, and digital technologies for the connected shopfloor.

The opening is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. The topping-out ceremony on May 20, 2026, was celebrated together with the project developer RH Unternehmensgruppe. Among the participants and speakers were Robert Hübner, Managing Partner of RH Unternehmensgruppe, Gudrun Weidmann, Ministerial Director at the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, as well as Dr. Alexander Dietrich and Benjamin Adjei, Members of the Bavarian State Parliament for the Munich-Moosach electoral district.

“With our European headquarters in Munich, we are creating a place for the future, innovation, and industrial collaboration,” said Dr. Irene Bader, Member of the Board at DMG MORI. “Our goal is to make visible the importance of modern manufacturing and machine tools for the competitiveness of entire industries.”

Machine tools are at the beginning of industrial value chains. They enable production in key industries such as aerospace, medical technology, energy, mobility, and semiconductor manufacturing. Without high-precision manufacturing, many technological advancements in everyday life would not be possible. The new technology center in Munich is intended to place greater emphasis on exactly this role.

In addition to modern working environments, the site will offer space for customer events, technology presentations, training, and interdisciplinary exchange. The goal is to create a space for industrial innovation, application expertise, and international collaboration.

The topping-out ceremony traditionally marks the completion of the structural work and the transition into the next phase of construction. Following the completion of the load-bearing structure, the next steps will include the facade, technical building systems, and interior fit-out.

“Industry is created where technology, processes, and people come together,” said Dr. Irene Bader. “This is exactly what we are establishing a new space for here.”
