Starting a business with used machine tools and financing from DMG MORI

Armed with expertise in machining and sales, Johannes and Thomas Strobel decided to strike out on their own in 2023. Since then, Strobel Industry has been manufacturing high-quality components for demanding industries. Just three years later, the Sierksdorf-based company can look back on numerous orders from the mechanical engineering, medical, automotive, and food industries. The young team, with an average age under 30, has grown to four people, and the production department already has three machines, one of which is a pre-owned NLX 2000|500 purchased in 2024 for 6-sided complete machining.

Challenge

  • Starting and growing a new business in a difficult economic environment
  • Meeting increasing demand for complex, high-precision components
  • Ensuring efficient production with limited resources during the start-up phase

Added Value

  • Micron-level precision, especially for demanding medical components
  • Complete machining in a single setup for higher efficiency
  • Attractive financing conditions from DMG MORI Finance
  • Reliable service and expert machine purchasing advice

Solution

  • Investment in pre-owned DMG MORI machines, including the NLX 2000|500
  • Use of advanced machining technology for 5-axis milling and complete machining
  • Introduction of automation, bar loading, and three-shift production
  • Building the basis for digital manufacturing with ERP connectivity and TopSolid simulation

Results

  • Rapid business growth with customers from multiple industries
  • High machine utilization and efficient overnight production
  • Improved precision, reduced downtime, and minimized scrap
  • Strong foundation for future expansion and further machine investments

“Using our second-hand NLX turning centre, we achieve micron-level accuracy. This allows us to generate significant added value, particularly in the medical sector, due also to very favorable terms from DMG MORI Finance.”
